1. Is WICKSoft Mobile Documents Secure?
Yes.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents incorporates multiple layers of security.  Network traffic is encrypted twice, each time at a different layer, and sophisticated security policies ensure only authorized network resources are accessible by your mobile users.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents honors your existing Windows and Novell security, so ACL's and other policies still take effect.  You can read our security whitepaper at http://www.wicksoft.com/pub/wicksoft_mobile_documents_security_white_paper.pdf.

2. What models of the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld does WICKSoft Mobile Documents support?
Any BlackBerry with a color screen can access WICKSoft Mobile Documents.  Our staff members carry everything from the 7290 up to the new 8830.

3. My company has 100's of mobile users.  Will it take a long time to deploy WICKSoft Mobile Documents to them?
Not at all.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents has built-in deployment technologies that virtually eliminates deployment and configuration time.

4. Our network has thousands of groups and thousands of servers.  Will it take long to setup WICKSoft Mobile Documents for our users?
No.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents provides the IT professional with bulk user and resource management tools, as well as stand-alone deployment tools.

5. Will WICKSoft Mobile Documents work in a multi-domain environment?
Absolutely.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents was designed to operate in complex multi-domain environments.  There are many configuration and deployment options available.  Contact us at support@WICKSoft.com for details.

6. Will I have to open up any additional ports on my network?
No.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents proprietary protocol tunnels over HTTP or HTTPS, and can even be installed on the same server as other network asset such as Microsoft Exchange Front-end.  If you are using BES then WICKSoft Mobile Documents doesn't even need to be accessible from the Internet.

7. Will users be able to access files they shouldn't be able to?
No.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents is not capable of overriding your existing network security so all of your Windows, Novell, and SharePoint ACLs will still take effect.

8. I have sensitive information on my network that can't leave the office. Will WICKSoft Mobile Documents be able to secure it?
Yes.  In addition to Windows and Novell ACL's, WICKSoft Mobile Documents lets you selectively block any network resource from your mobile users.

9. Will WICKSoft Mobile Documents users be able to see the entire network?
Only if you want them to.  Out-of-the-box nobody is allowed to access anything through WICKSoft Mobile Documents.  You can selectively publish the network neighborhood, or any other network resource, to a user, or users, based on a number of criteria.

10. We have a lot of users in different roles.  Can I provide my users with access to only the resources they need without spending too much time?
The bulk user and resource management tools that come with WICKSoft Mobile Documents are very flexible and easy to use.  Our support team will gladly assist you with any questions you might have.

11.  I work for a small organization and am the only person with a BlackBerry.  Is WICKSoft Mobile Documents for me?
The short answer is no.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents was designed for larger organizations.  That said, if you really want the features WICKSoft Mobile Documents delivers and have access to a Microsoft Server running IIS then we would be happy to assist you.

12. What types of files can I view with WICKSoft Mobile Documents?
WICKSoft Mobile Documents isn't restricted to any particular set of file types and always makes a best attempt at letting you view them.  Here is a small subset of the file types you can view:

- PDF
- Microsoft Word (including 2007)
- Microsoft Excel (including 2007)
- WordPad
- RichText
- Text
- BMP (Bitmap)
- PNG
- JPEG
- GIF

13. Can I edit files using WICKSoft Mobile Documents?
Not at this time, but you can use WICKSoft Mobile Documents to deliver files to your handheld and use whatever existing 3rd party applications you already have to modify the file.  In this way WICKSoft Mobile Documents enhances the utility of the applications you already keep on your handheld.  For BlackBerrys with running BlackBerry OS 4.2.x that have storage ability you can download files using WICKSoft Mobile Documents and edit them using your laptop, or desktop.  Note: This feature must be enabled by your administrator.

 

14. How long does it take to install WICKSoft Mobile Documents?
Typically less than an hour.  The actual installation can take as little as one minute, and the deployment can take from 5 minutes to an hour to setup the access and security controls.  The delivery (to the handheld) can take as little as 5 minutes and involves no interaction from the end-user.


15. Will I need to make changes on my Domain Controller?

No.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents installs and operates without any changes to your Domain Controller.  All existing users, groups, and policies remain intact without any modification.  WICKSoft Mobile Documents does not require you to create any special accounts or groups either; it runs in your domain 'as-is'.

 

16. Where do I install WICKSoft Mobile Documents Server?

WICKSoft Mobile Documents Server is installed on a Microsoft Windows 2003 Server with IIS 6.0 and ASP.NET enabled.  The computer hosting WICKSoft Mobile Documents Server can be located almost anywhere within your network.   WICKSoft Mobile Documents also supports a multi-server mode.

 

17. Can I transfer files using WICKSoft Mobile Documents?

WICKSoft Mobile Documents lets you download files on devices running BlackBerry OS 4.2.x that have some storage ability (Pearl 8100, 8800, Curve 8300, Edge 8830).  As a security precaution, in order for this feature to work, your administrator must configure the WICKSoft Mobile Documents server to allow file transfers.   WICKSoft Mobile Documents does not currently support uploading.
